Bertin NAHUM, Quantum Surgical Co-founder & CEO

Successful entrepreneur in Surgical Robotics :

Prior to Quantum Surgical, Bertin NAHUM founded Medtech SA (Rosa® Surgical Robot – neuro and spine surgery) in 2002, took the company public (IPO) in 2013 and sold it to Zimmer Biomet (NYSE: ZBH) in 2016.

Previously, he pioneered the development of robot-assisted solutions in various surgical specialties at Computer Motion Inc. (Zeus, AESOP – laparoscopic surgery) and Integrated Surgical Systems Inc. (ROBODOC – orthopedic surgery).

Bertin NAHUM graduated from the National Institute of Applied Sciences (FR) and holds a Master of Science in Robotics and a Doctorate of Technology Honoris Causa from Coventry University (UK).

He was awarded the Legion of Honor in the rank of Chevalier in 2013.

Fernand BADANO, Quantum Surgical Co-founder & General Manager

Fernand BADANO has 25+ years’ experience as Chief Officer and Board Director of innovative medical technology companies.

He served as General Manager and Board Director of Medtech SA.

Fernand BADANO holds a PhD degree from National Institute of Applied Sciences (FR).

Lucien BLONDEL, Quantum Surgical Co-founder & CTO

Lucien BLONDEL has 15+ years of experience in Medical Imaging & Robotics.

He headed engineering team at Medtech SA, with an experience at GE Healthcare.

Lucien BLONDEL is graduated from the Centrale-Supélec Engineering school (FR).

Laetitia MESSNER, Strategic Partnership Director

Laetitia MESSNER has 10+ years’ experience in the Public Health Sector.

She was head of the Hospital Information Systems Policy for the French Ministry of Health, and COO of Montpellier University Hospital.

Elise LAGACHERIE, Quality & Regulatory Affairs Manager

Elise LAGACHERIE has 15+ years’ experience in Quality & Regulatory Affairs.

She was QA & RA Manager at Medtech SA. Previously, she had an experience at Beckman Coulter.

Marion MOLLET, HR Manager

Previously, Marion MOLLET held HR positions in international companies from various industries.

Christophe SIBILLIN, Chief Financial Officer

Christophe SIBILLIN has 20+ years’ experience in Finance (IPO-M&A) within Medical and High-tech industries.
Served as C.F.O. and General Manager at Medtech SA.

Previously he spend 7 years as Finance Director at Supersonic Imagine SA.

Frédéric BANEGAS, R&D Director

Frédéric BANEGAS has 15+ years’ experience in Medical Imaging.
He is a co-founder of Intrasense (medical imaging) in 2004, IPO in 2008, as VP Operations & Industrial Partnerships.

Sophie ROCA, Quantum Surgical Co-founder & Administrative Manager

Sophie ROCA has 10+ years’ experience as Executive assistant of Medtech SA.

She graduated with a Masters Degree in Psychology and University Degree in Neurobiology & Neurosciences.

Frank YU, Founder, CEO & CIO at Ally Bridge Group

Frank YU is the founder, CEO and CIO of the firm who carries a strong track record as an investment manager across multiple funds and strategies. Previously, Mr. Yu was Managing Director and Head of China Investments at Och-Ziff Capital Management (OZ), a leading global hedge fund, where he made some of OZ’s largest and highly successful investments. Prior to Och-Ziff, Mr. Yu was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong, where he headed several business units and played instrumental roles in some of the most important restructuring, IPO and M&A transactions of leading Chinese companies. Mr. Yu also advised leading global institutions on their China and Asia strategies and transactions. Before Goldman Sachs, Mr. Yu worked at Moody’s in New York, and then Credit Suisse in London and Hong Kong.

Since 2010, Mr. Yu has founded, launched and managed 4 funds covering venture, growth, buyout and hedge fund investing from China to U.S. to Europe.  Mr. Yu excels in originating and executing major investment themes such as global life science investing, which has become the primary focus of Mr. Yu and Ally Bridge, creating high-impact deals such as the landmark US$3.3 billion WuXi Pharmatech. He has expertise in cementing strategic transactions between emerging players and industry leaders, between companies in China, the U.S. and Europe, and helping global companies to access the China market while assisting Chinese companies to acquire novel technologies overseas.

Andrew PANG, Principal at Ally Bridge Group

Andrew Pang is a Principal of Ally Bridge Group and focuses on medical devices investments and private equity transactions. He joined the team led by Frank Yu in 2011 and has since played an important role in underwriting and executing notable transactions including the take-private of WuXi Pharmatech and Shandong Luoxin Pharmaceutical as well as the Series C investment in GRAIL, Inc. Before joining ABG, Mr. Pang worked at InterLeader, a family-office investment group in Hong Kong, focusing on private equity transactions. Prior to returning to Hong Kong, Mr. Pang worked at Bank of America in London, where he worked on European leveraged buyout transactions. Mr. Pang has developed excellent deal execution skills and cross-border investment experience. Mr. Pang holds a BA in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Cambridge where he graduated with first class honors.

Pr. Luigi SOLBIATI, Interventional Radiologist (IT)

Luigi SOLBIATI worked from 1980 to 2015 at the General Hospital of Busto Arsizio (Varese), rising from Assistant Radiologist to Chairman of the Department of Oncology and Head of the Division of Interventional Oncologic Radiology.

He pioneered ultrasound-guided aspiration biopsies (1979), ethanol injection (1983), radiofrequency ablation with cool-tip electrodes (1995) and microwaves (2009) of solid tumors and fusion imaging for the guidance of interventional procedures (2003). In parallel, he has been serving as an adjunct Professor of “Techniques and Methods of Diagnostic Imaging” from 1988 to 2014 at the School of Radiology of the University of Milan.

He gave more than 480 scientific presentations at Meetings, Congresses and Courses in 23 countries. He has been Guest Lecturer at the Universities of San Diego, Zurich, Beijing, Hong Kong, New Delhi, Cairo, Vienna, Yale and at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester). Chairman of the 1st World Conference on Interventional Oncology (Cernobbio, Italy) in 2006. Chairman of the 1st Interventional Oncology Sans Frontieres Congress (IOSFC) (Cernobbio, Italy) in 2013.

Pr. Guy VALLANCIEN, Urology Surgeon (FR)

Formerly Head of Department of Montsouris Institute. Guy Vallancien is recognized as an international pioneer in the development of laparoscopic and robotic surgery for prostate, kidney and bladder cancers.

Guy VALLANCIEN is a Member of the French National Academy of Medicine and Member of the Parliamentary Office for the Evaluation of Scientific and Technological Choices (OPECST).

He is the founder and President of the Convention on Health Analysis and Management, CHAM and Honorary Professor of Universities.

Guy VALLANCIEN founded the European school of surgery in 2001.

He has been decorated with the awards of « Officer of the Legion of Honour » in 2010 and « Officer of the national order of merit »  in 2016.

Pr. Boris GUIU, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist (FR)

Head of Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at St-Eloi Hospital – CHU Montpellier and Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Montpellier since 2014, his clinical activity and his research work focus on liver imaging and hepatic interventional radiology.

Boris GUIU is a member of several national and international scientific societies in the field of digestive and interventional radiology and is a guest speaker at many international congresses in this field. He has published more than 160 articles in peer-reviewed journals.

He has coordinated several phase I and II therapeutic trials in the field of locoregional therapies in oncology, notably through two national PHRCs obtained in 2016 and 2017. Boris GUIU recently described a new technique allowing to obtain a 60% increase in liver function in just 7 days. Finally, the first 4D Interventional Radiology Room in Europe was installed in his department.

Pr. David C. MADOFF, Interventional Radiologist (USA)

David C. MADOFF is an Attending Physician at Yale New Haven Hospital and Vice Chairman for Clinical Research Department of Radiology and biomedical imaging at Yale School of medicine.

Previously, he was Vice Chairman for Academic Affairs and Professor of Radiology at Weill Cornell Medicine. From January 2011 to November 2015, David C. MADOFF served as Chief of the Division of Interventional Radiology.

He is an internationallyrecognized expert in Interventional Oncology.

David C. MADOFF is a leader in academic Interventional Radiology and has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international meetings. He authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles, has written more than 30 book chapters and served as co-editor of three textbooks including the highly regarded textbook entitled Venous Embolization of the Liver: Radiologic and Surgical Practice and the newly released textbook entitled Clinical Interventional Oncology.  David C. MADOFF currently serves as Deputy Editor for RADIOLOGY, the flagship scientific journal of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology from 2007 to 2010.

David C. MADOFF is active in many of the major radiological societies including the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Society of Interventional Radiology and the Association of University Radiologists. Based on his important contributions to the field, David C. MADOFF was elected Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology in 2007 and Fellow of the American College of Radiology in 2015.
